The annual Arbor Day has come round once more. On March 11, the day before Arbor Day, the party branch of Sheshan National Forest Park (in the Songjiang district forest zone) organized tree planting activities for over 50 participants, including party members, middle-level managers, and other active staff.

The tree plantings took part on the east side of the small Kunshan Mountain, where the land used to be barren and it was almost impossible to grow plants. In the 1970s, staff in the forest zone transformed the area by building terraces and added a few plants such as locust trees and hackberries. This time, the park plans to further transform the area. Some excellent tree species that have long roots and can better endure the wind, such as Zhejiang machiluses, were brought there, and a few magnolias (the city flower of Shanghai) were also planted.

Over 400 trees were planted within one day. Though exhausted, all participants were proud of what they had done.
