On May 5, the Memorial Day for Lei Feng, Chenshan Botanical Garden organized a series of volunteer activities to promote the spirit of dedication and helping one another. Over 30 young volunteers signed up to learn from Lei Feng’s spirit and serve society.
The volunteering was divided up into three parts:
1. Free park guide
The volunteers were responsible for contacting groups of visitors and providing free scientific introductions.
2. Scientific Education in communities
A group of “Lei Feng” came to the fourth welfare center in Songjiang district to lecture on nurturing plants under smog. During the lecture they interacted with the elderly talking about plants.
3. Care delivering trip
Some visited the Sheshan Homes for the Elderly to help the residents with some work and to chat with them. They also delivered gifts from Chenshan Botanical Garden: some plants to decorate their windowsills.
