It may still be cold, but plum trees in Chenshan Botanical Garden, Shanghai, are blooming, as if to tell people that spring is not far away.
The Plum Garden is located in the northwest section of Gate 1, Chenshan Botanical Garden. It covers an area of 3,500 square meters, displaying over 100 plum trees from more than 50 species. As this winter’s temperatures are slightly higher than the same period last year, especially thanks to rising temperatures during Spring Festival, a couple of plum varieties have already entered the flowering phrase, which is 10 days earlier than the same time last year.
In the past year, gardeners in Chenshan Botanical Garden worked on soil improvement, drainage and other aspects, greatly improving plum site conditions. They also took good care of the plum trees to ensure healthy growth even in the rare high-temperature climate.
