To celebrate the Year of the Horse, Shanghai Happy Valley is holding a New Year Zodiac Festival from the first day of the lunar year (January 31) to the 15th day of the first lunar month (February 14). Folk customs will meet fashion in a fantastic feast for the eyes.

From the first to the seventh day of the lunar year (January 31 to February 6), two lion dance processions performed their best stunts at Happy Valley. The two teams, one from the south and one from the north, spread the atmosphere of good luck and happiness through their vivid imitation of lions. While enjoying the lion dance, tourists were also able to try traditional delicacies such as sugar figurines and marshmallows.

From the first to the sixth day of the lunar year (January 31 to February 5), alpacas, the cute South American “horses” came to the valley in colorful costumes. The access to Wi-Fi enabled tourists to participate in online activities and win gifts through scanning QR codes specially provided for the festival.

In the 4D theater of Happy Valley, where Journey to the Center of the Earth Ⅱ, was playing during Spring Festival, tourists got a chance to explore the unknown world.

During Spring Festival, the park offered all kinds of performances, as well as activities like tongue twister contests for tourists.

In 2014, Lantern Festival falls on the same day as Valentine’s Day. So February 14 this year will be even more special. On that day, a Valentine’s party will be held in Happy Valley, and young lovers can come to enjoy the love song contests and other romantic activities.
