Typhoon Fitow has also brought heavy downpours to Shanghai and other parts of Zhejiang Province.

The storm has affected seven million people in 11 cities across Zhejiang, causing direct economic losses of over 12 billion yuan. Several rivers in the province are also reported to be reaching dangerously high levels.

On Monday, Shanghai saw an average of 153 millimeters of rainfall, the highest in a single day since 1961. Fitow made landfall in Fujian Province, just south of Zhejiang, early Monday, bringing heavy rain to China's eastern coast.
