Singapore Airlines to deploy A380 for service to Shanghai

Singapore Airlines (SIA), one of the most comfortable airlines in the world, said on September 4 that it will deploy Airbus A380 superjumbo on selected flights to and from Shanghai from October 27.

The SIA currently operates 35 weekly flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport using Boeing 777 aircraft during the northern summer operating season and 28 weekly flights during the northern winter operating season.

The A380 is scheduled to be deployed for five flights every week from the start of the northern winter season, which will increase the overall seat capacity by 12 percent.

The A380 currently only flies to some popular destinations like Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo Narita and Zurich.

The SIA and its regional wing SilkAir totally operate 116 weekly flights to 10 destinations in mainland China, including Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Kunming, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Xiamen.

There are also 49 weekly flights to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region operated by the SIA.
