Shanghai is experiencing its hottest summer on record this year. The heat has created a challenge for landscape maintenance. Chenshan Botanical Garden is adopting various measures and active deployment in the combat against drought.

Staff workers in the horticulture department have recognized the importance of protecting sprouts against drought. Sheds have been built for newly-planted trees to limit direct sunlight and insure a moist environment. Lotuses have also been placed in cooler temperatures.

Over the summer, the garden has been implementing humanization management strategies. The maintenance staff are only required to water the plants in the morning and late afternoon, and they enjoy complementary supplies during extreme heat.
