The Shanxi Provincial Department of Commerce issued several measures on March 26 to promote the high-quality development of its convention and exhibition industry. They aim to develop Taiyuan, Jinzhong, Xinzhou, Lyuliang, and Yangquan into regional international convention and exhibition destination cities.

Following the strategic deployment of coordinated regional development plans across the province, Shanxi will encourage city circles to take advantage of their regional resources and key industrial chains to better facilitate the development of conventions and exhibitions.

Shanxi will support the collaborative development of upstream and downstream enterprises in the convention and exhibition industry chain. It will seek well-known domestic and foreign convention and exhibition companies to establish branches, agencies, or cooperative institutions within the province.

Shanxi will also support domestic and foreign business associations and enterprises to introduce international specialized conventions and exhibitions. Depending on the scale of the exhibitions and operational costs, organizers of international, domestic, and industry exhibitions will receive subsidies of up to 3 million yuan ($414,906.7), 2 million yuan, and 1 million yuan, respectively.

Furthermore, efforts will be made to accelerate facility construction and optimize security measures. For venues hosting exhibitions of a certain scale or number throughout the year, a one-time reward of up to 400,000 yuan will be granted.
