Taiyuan city, capital of Shanxi province, will stick to industrial-driven economic development and improve its industrial foundation and industrial chain in 2020.

Traditional industrial upgrading

The city will make full use of its technical transformation funds to guide companies to implement their information-based technological transformation, to support enterprises in developing new projects aimed at enhancing their product added value and comprehensive competitiveness.

As for the traditional iron and steel industry, Taiyuan will extend its stainless steel industrial supply chain and improve its steel deep-processing sector. Regarding the coal, coking and chemicals industries, Taiyuan will adhere to high-end, market-oriented, diversified and eco-friendly development.

Emerging industrial development

Taiyuan will build strategic emerging industrial clusters with an excellent infrastructure, large scale, complete sets of support facilities and industrial chains and strong driving power for economic growth.

In terms of its high-end equipment manufacturing industry, the city will focus on developing industrial clusters for rail transit, new energy vehicles and intelligent coal machinerymanufacturing.

For the new generation of information technology industry, the city will form an industrial base that combines software, hardware production and systems integration by promoting IT, electronics information, robotics, as well as the development of computer and software industrial projects.

As for the new materials industry, Taiyuan will concentrate on building industrial clusters for coal-based carbon materials, new chemical materials and new biological materials.

In addition, the city will accelerate its planning for the hydrogen energy industry based on local research institutes and companies, when it comes to the green energy industry.

It will advance coke oven gas-derived hydrogen production, purification and storage, and put more hydrogen energy-powered buses and logistics trucks into use. Other green energy projects -- including Biomass-based heat and electricity cogeneration and solar and wind power -- will also be developed in an orderly way.
