Painting exhibition shines light on rural Pingyao

A solo exhibition of paintings of Wu Jiyi opened to the public in the ancient city of Pingyao in North China's Shanxi province on July 4.

Wu serves as chairman of the Jiexiu Artists Association and specialized in landscape painting in his early days. More recently, he has placed more of an accent on integrating people, flowers and birds into his works, especially in the depiction of architecture and scenes of daily life. 

The more than 190 works exhibited were inspired by his visits to over 190 villages in Pingyao during the past seven years. His art plays a positive role in promoting local cultural heritage and Pingyao's traditional culture. 

This exhibition is running for one week.
