Shanxi achieves strides in postdoctoral work
Updated: 2025-12-24
Shanxi province has made great strides in postdoctoral work by implementing robust talent and innovation-driven development strategies since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25). This has led to a comprehensive enhancement of the postdoctoral platform system, a significant expansion of the talent pool, and a steady growth in innovative achievements.
The province has integrated postdoctoral talent initiatives into its "1+N" talent policy framework, placing Shanxi at the forefront nationwide in terms of subsidy coverage and amount. Over the past three years, the province's postdoctoral workforce has grown exponentially, with 2,505 postdoctoral researchers recruited and 1,344 currently in position, doubling the number from three years ago.
Shanxi has established 61 postdoctoral research mobile stations and 54 workstations, adding 11 mobile stations and 14 workstations over the past three years. Since 2022, 64 provincial-level postdoctoral innovation practice bases have been created, forming a multi-layered training system that covers major disciplines, key industries, and regional development. These bases have become crucial platforms for attracting and cultivating young scientific talent.
Focusing on cutting-edge scientific exploration and industrial demands, postdoctoral researchers in Shanxi have led or participated in over 3,900 national and provincial-level projects, published nearly 6,000 high-level academic papers, and filed around 2,500 patent applications, fostering a portfolio of core technologies with independent intellectual property rights.
