Shanxi making steady progress

The last year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) is coming to an end. Looking back over the past five years, Shanxi province has achieved steady progress on all socioeconomic fronts. Its GDP per capita surpassed $10,000 for the first time and average annual GDP growth is expected to reach 5 percent by the end of 2025. The province has been a major energy supplier in the country, with its coal output accounting for more than one-fourth of the country's total and electricity supply ranking among the highest in the nation. Shanxi has also witnessed sustained advancements in foreign trade, local market demands, balanced urban-rural development, environmental protection and social welfare.
