The city of Yangquan is developing into a "Smart Digital City" by prioritizing the digital economy and laying the foundation for a modern industrial system in line with the Shanxi Provincial Government's strategic directives.

In digital infrastructure, Yangquan has accelerated its 5G network deployment, completing the "14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25)" for 5G base stations by 2023. It became the first in Shanxi province to achieve full 5G coverage across the city and in key areas, earning the title of a national "Gigabit City".

On the industrial front, Yangquan is expanding its digital economy by collaborating with leading companies like China Electronics Co. This partnership has led to the creation of the China Electronics Digital Economy Industrial Park, which hosts over 150 companies involved in information innovation, smart terminals, intelligent manufacturing, and data processing.

In the energy sector, the city is implementing "5G+ Smart Mine" applications. The city has established five intelligent mines and 131 smart mining faces, with advanced coal production capacity reaching 94.5 percent.

Yangquan is also enhancing urban management with its new smart city hub, enabling real-time oversight and management of emergency services, transportation, and city operations. This integrated command center ensures more efficient and precise city governance.
