The "China Agricultural Technology Aid Project in Grenada", implemented by Shanxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation Co (Shanxi International), received the "Best Poverty Reduction Case" award at the 2025 International Seminar on Global Poverty Reduction Partnerships in Beijing on Dec 10.

This is the only project from Shanxi province to receive such recognition and will be featured in the South-South Cooperation Poverty Reduction Knowledge Sharing Platform's poverty reduction case database and online sharing platform.

Since October 2022, Shanxi International has spearheaded the eighth phase of the Agricultural Technology Cooperation Project in Grenada. By integrating advanced Chinese agricultural concepts and technologies with Grenada's natural resources, the project has paved the way for sustainable poverty reduction.

It focuses on five key areas: vegetable cultivation, fruit tree management, livestock breeding, bamboo and rattan weaving, and water-saving irrigation. By establishing demonstration bases, cultivating skilled farmers, and improving infrastructure, the project provides lasting momentum for modernizing local agriculture.

An agricultural training center has also been established, training over 1,100 participants. The project not only supplies essential production materials, such as machinery and seeds, but also completes critical infrastructure projects, including a machinery station, a bamboo weaving workshop, a tissue culture lab, and irrigation systems.

After more than two years of effort, over 100 new crop varieties have been introduced, significantly enhancing local farmers' skills and income. The project's "demonstration farms + technical training + facility support" model has effectively boosted Grenada's agricultural resilience and development.
