In the first two months of this year, 55 key retail enterprises in Shanxi province achieved sales totaling 14.12 billion yuan ($1.94 billion), marking a 4.29 percent year-on-year increase. This indicates that the trade-in policy has effectively stimulated consumer spending.
These enterprises span 12 main sectors, including supermarkets, shopping centers, online platforms, home appliances, automobiles, phones and digital products, and pedestrian streets.
Shopping centers reported sales of 3.76 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 30 percent. Supermarkets followed with 2.35 billion yuan, representing almost 20 percent, and automobile sales reached 3.14 billion yuan, contributing over 20 percent. These three sectors comprised more than 60 percent of the total sales.
Phones and digital products saw the highest growth, driven by peak holiday seasons and national subsidies, with sales reaching 134.72 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of over 40 percent. Online sales also saw significant growth, totaling 1.05 billion yuan, up more than 30 percent year-on-year.
