Shanxi highlights transportation work for 2025
In 2025, North China's Shanxi province will focus on stabilizing investment in transportation, enhancing the quality and efficiency of transportation logistics, promoting technological and industrial innovation in transportation, and developing a system that meets the needs of the public.
This year, the province aims to complete two major highway projects: the Xiyang-Yuci section and the Qinyuan-Huozhou section. These additions will bring the total length of the province's highways to 6,670 kilometers and increase the number of provincial exits to 32. Additionally, Shanxi plans to build or upgrade 4,330 km of rural roads, significantly improving rural transportation conditions.
Shanxi will take full advantage of road freight in short-distance transshipment to bridge the "first and last kilometer" gap in railway trunk transportation, effectively reducing transportation and logistics costs. The province is committed to achieving a growth rate of at least 6 percent in the added value of the transportation service industry.
In urban passenger transport, Shanxi will encourage the development of customized bus services, community buses, and school buses to enhance accessibility and convenience. It will continue to enhance accessible transportation services for aged people and support the introduction of intercity buses to boost the efficiency of intercity travel within urban areas.
Additionally, efforts will be made to promote the integration of urban and rural passenger transport, with plans to establish five to seven provincial-level demonstration counties for integrated urban-rural transportation.
While optimizing the business environment for transportation, Shanxi will also strengthen targeted regulatory services to ensure that the transportation market remains dynamic yet orderly.
