North China's Shanxi province has planned winter cultural and tourism activities to attract visitors to experience its winter allure and Chinese New Year tourism.

During the 2024 Shanxi Winter Tourism Promotion and New Media Marketing Exchange event in Taiyuan on Dec 18, the Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province launched winter cultural tourism activities, unveiling four winter tourism routes and over 260 winter tourism activities with five major themes.

Major scenic spots in Shanxi have introduced discount policies to enhance their winter tourism appeal. These policies range from ticket discounts to special activities, dining, accommodation, and tourism souvenirs. Popular ski resorts like Yunqiu Mountain Ski Resort have also introduced ice and snow carnivals and discounted skiing.

Shanxi has introduced excellent performance exhibitions to welcome the new year, create a festive atmosphere, and enrich people's cultural lives. Over 90 performances, including Jin Opera, symphonic suites, and duet programs, will be held across the province until Feb 28.

This year, thanks to the popularity of Black Myth: Wukong, tourist numbers in Shanxi's hotspots have surged, making Shanxi tourism a hot topic.

"The launch of this winter cultural tourism activity aims to extend the 'Wukong effect' and unleash the economic vitality of Shanxi's winter tourism," said Chen Shaoqing, chief inspector of the Culture and Tourism Department of Shanxi Province. "We hope everyone will come to Shanxi this winter and experience an unforgettable journey."
