In recent years, North China's Shanxi province has implemented various healthcare reforms, which have yielded positive results and continuously enhanced the people's well-being.
The province has initiated a universal insurance plan for residents holding residence permits. The total number of participants in basic medical insurance across the province has reached 31.55 million. Policies for inpatient care have been improved, with average reimbursement rates reaching around 80 percent for employee medical insurance and 70 percent for resident medical insurance.
National procurement and provincial and municipal centralized purchasing have facilitated efforts to reform drug and consumable obtainment. This has led to the procurement of 1,116 types of drugs and 112 medical consumables, resulting in an average price reduction of over 50 percent for selected products.
The province has been advancing convenient healthcare services by establishing an application system for healthcare convenience. Efforts have been made to integrate and streamline online and offline services, including government new media platforms, personal online service halls, and physical government service centers, facilitating data sharing and making services more accessible to the public.
Currently, 25.56 million people in the province have activated their electronic healthcare vouchers, achieving a rate of 80.91 percent. The online service hall has served 128,000 participating units, with 631,000 individual transactions processed.
Shanxi has also promoted a "One-Stop Service" in the healthcare sector. Based on the provincial integrated government service platform, the province has streamlined processes for "newborn birth registration" and "employee retirement", making them more efficient and convenient.
