Jincheng in North China's Shanxi province has made great efforts to establish a national ecological garden city since 2022, with a series of key projects implemented and continuous improvement seen in the quality of urban greening.

The city has constructed two ecological corridors, completed the greening of the 16.2-kilometer-long Danhe Express and the 6.87-km Zhongyuan Street, and planted 55,000 trees and shrubs spanning a total of 1.12 million square meters.

Two large urban parks covering 3.67 hectares and 8.13 ha, respectively, have been built featuring exquisite designs, with 2,560 trees and shrubs spanning 77,000 sq m planted there.

In addition, the greening of two roads – the 6.9-km Beihuan Road and 3.8-km Wenbo Road – has been optimized and improved.

Efforts have also been made to green unused land, abandoned land, and idle land. Moreover, the greening of 16 plots, including the eastern entrance and exit of the main urban area and the Dongshangzhuang interchange, has been completed, involving the planting of 5,380 trees and shrubs over 145,000 sq m.

By the end of 2022, the city's built-up green space, urban green coverage, urban green space ratio, and the per-capita green space of its parks ranked among the top in the province.
