Shanghai has launched a global campaign to fill 8,030 high-level and postdoctoral research positions in public institutions, according to the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

These roles are in 258 postdoctoral stations from 131 enterprises and public institutions, including the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. 

Overseas talents can apply for 5,346 positions. There are 2,011 positions related to the three strategic industries - integrated circuits, biomedicine and artificial intelligence. About 90 percent of the positions are related to national and city-level platforms, key tasks and projects.

With regard to education qualifications, 2,035 job positions require graduate degrees while 1,837 require doctoral degrees. The demand is the highest in universities, medical organizations and scientific research institutions.

The top three universities in terms of the number of positions available are Shanghai Normal University (233), East China University of Political Science and Law (145), and Shanghai Ocean University (106). The top three medical institutions in this regard are Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (35), Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (28), and Children's Hospital of Shanghai (28).

Statistics from the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau show that the number of professionals and technical personnel in Shanghai has exceeded 3 million, and the proportion of high-level professionals with higher education has risen to nearly 70 percent.

The ratio of high, intermediate, and junior professional titles has remained stable at 1:3:6. Professionals under 45 years old account for about 80 percent of the total workforce and non-public technical personnel account for more than 60 percent. There are presently 30,000 postdoctoral researchers in the city.
