More than 20 foreign residents in Shanghai recently discussed improving the Qianwan International Talent Community at a special meeting at the International Community Service Center in Huacao town, which is located in Minhang district, and were also the first guests welcomed by the service center before its official opening.

The meeting was held by the Huacao Branch of Chunshen Talent Pyramid College and the Jinfeng International Community Development Promotion Association to collect suggestions from local foreign residents on building an international talent community in the Qianwan area of the Hongqiao International Opening-up Hub, which is currently under construction in Huacao.

According to statistics, the total number of overseas residents in Huacao town has reached 4,389, and they are from 76 countries and regions.

During the meeting, the foreign residents expressed their hopes for the construction of the International Community, including highlighting the concept of carbon neutrality, strengthening the construction of talent apartments, providing convenient 24-hour photocopying services, and building skate parks and pet rest stations.

The meeting was chaired by Chen Xingyan, a special tutor at the Huacao Branch of Chunshen Talent Pyramid College and president of the Huacao Jinfeng International Community Development Promotion Association. She utilized the Qianwan planning video and bilingual PPT to introduce the development plan of the Qianwan area to the foreign residents.

In the interactive session, the  foreign residents discussed the development plan of Qianwan in detail, and put forward many valuable suggestions for the construction of the Qianwan International Talent Community.

In terms of administrative affairs, they hope that the international talent community will offer visa renewals, entry and exit management, pet registrations, and driver's license services. In terms of community construction and governance, they hope that the international talent community will have more talent apartments, and launch public services such as medical consultations and retirement policies. In terms of community exchanges, they hope that the international talent community can build a unified bilingual platform to provide foreign residents with community information in a timely manner.

Representatives of member units of the Huacao Branch of Chunshen Talent Pyramid College gave careful answers to the foreign residents' questions, and expressed their hope that more foreign residents could provide more valuable opinions on how to build the Qianwan International Talent Community.

Huacao town is planning to accelerate the construction of the Qianwan International Talent Community and promote the integrated development of "industries, city and people" as its primary task and focus on the spatial development layout in accordance with the requirements of the "Implementation Plan for Minhang District to Promote the Construction of Shanghai's High-level Talent Highland Core Area".

To construct the Qianwan International Talent Community with high standards, Huacao plans to further improve relevant mechanisms and systems, create a more open and inclusive environment to attract international talents, optimize its international innovation and entrepreneurship platform, and build a more reasonable international talent team structure.

It will work to improve community amenities, the public service system, and the quality of international life in an effort to create a living environment that is "overseas-like."
