The eBay China Development Center reached a cooperation deal with the Shanghai Zhangjiang Huoju Innovation Park Investment Development Co to jointly build the so-called eBay-Huoju Big Data Innovation Center in Shanghai's Zhangjiang area, Pudong Times reported on June 5.

The deal is a joint effort of industry and capital, using the technological advantages of industry leader eBay China and financial firepower of capital firm Zhangjiang Huoju to establish an international innovation platform. In turn, the platform will strive to help promote the gathering of technology, capital, and talent.

According to the deal, the two companies will join hands to nurture big data-focused startups and promote the development of the big data industry by integrating big data and other emerging technologies such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence. An enterprise innovation university specializing in big data will also be established to train technical professionals.

Projects operating in the platform will also be able to receive guidance from technical teams of eBay China and enjoy the advantage of its industrial resources.

As the largest overseas R&D center of eBay, eBay China boasts many core technologies and businesses in big data, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing as well as complete e-commerce data.

Encouragingly, eBay has proactively welcomed more tech companies to work alongside them, which has resulted in the establishment of Friends of eBay in New York city. Friends of eBay aims to support the next wave of NYC tech companies by offering free office space, mentorship, access to eBay's network of entrepreneurs, business leaders, and investors.

This cooperation between eBay China and Zhangjiang Huoju is a significant step in the global expansion strategy of Friends of eBay.

Zhangjiang Huoju, a financial investment arm of Shanghai Pudong Scientific Innovation Group, has a wealth of experience in project incubation. It will help teams operating in the center to gain more knowledge of commercial markets, marketing, investment, financing, and corporate management. It will also organize tech forums, competitions, and symposiums for the center.
