Shanghai's Pudong New Area, a thriving area for startup and innovative companies, continues welcoming leading minds from all over the world to work or start up their own businesses in the area, announced Weng Zuliang, Party secretary of Pudong, on April 20 during a meeting with Barry Marshall, a Nobel Prize winner in Physiology.

Weng introduced Pudong's status as a core area for Shanghai's creation of an international economic, financial, shipping, and trading center. He said that the area has gathered a great number of talented personnel from home and abroad and has been working on giving the talents a convenient and confortable working and living environment.

Weng pointed out that Pudong is looking forward to Marshall's cooperation with the Shanghai East Hospital affiliated to Tongji University and will be sure to offer strong support.

Barry Marshall is an Australian scientist who, along with his partner Robin Warren, discovered Helicobacter pylori for which they both won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2005.

Marshall said he is satisfied with Pudong's environment and has confidence in his cooperation with the East Hospital to build a digestive disease diagnosis and treatment center.
