Consumer Electronics Show Asia (CES Asia) announced on April 5 that it would join hands with Shanghai's Zhangjiang High-Tech Park. The cooperation aims to attract a greater number of innovative startups to attend this year's exhibition.

The 2017 CES Asia will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from June 7 to 9. Zhangjiang will set up a pavilion at the exhibition displaying some of the greatest innovative technologies and products created by its startups.

Yang Ye, director of Zhangjiang High-Tech Park administrative committee, explained that the cooperation with CES Asia resulted from the common wish to give startups a platform to display their latest technologies and innovations and to offer dynamic access to the Asian market.

Karen Chupka, senior vice president of CES and corporate business strategy for the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), a sponsor of CES Asia, said that they have noticed a surge of startup companies and technological innovations in China in recent years. Chupka expects an increased number of Chinese startups attending Startup Park, an important section of CES Asia, which yielded the cooperation with Zhangjiang.

Chupka explains that Startup Park is focused on innovations in the rapidly developing mobile device market and other emerging industries. It is aimed at attracting leading startups to present their technological breakthroughs. It also gives startups the opportunity to meet and discuss with investors and industry leaders, a process which can greatly advance product innovation.

CES Asia, first launched by the US Consumer Technology Association in 2015, has grown in popularity in the Asian market. In 2016, it attracted 439 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions. A wide range of the latest technologies were on display including 3D printing, robots, drones, auto technologies, smart home, and products related to the Internet of Things.
