Chongming Industrial Zone was established in 1996, with an area of 10 square kilometers.

With Chengqiao New Town to its east, Nanmen Port to its south and Chenhai Road to its north, the zone is located at the economic center of Chongming Island.

Predominantly occupied by low-carbon and green industries, the industrial zone takes full advantage of the industrial agglomeration. It gives priority to industries with advanced technologies and strives to upgrade the industrial structure.

As home to more than 6000 registered companies the zone has been one of the most important pillars of economic development in Chongming county. 

In the future, the industrial zone will make efforts to build a manufacturing base for auto parts and an economic park for company headquarters.
