Calligraphy, painting exhibition showcases Pudong's history

The Pudong History Museum presents some of its finest traditional Chinese artworks at the ongoing exhibition titled Shanghai-style Ink Paintings - Masters from Pudong Painting and Calligraphy.

The exhibition features 55 pieces or sets of painting and calligraphy works from Pudong celebrities and showcases the 400-year history of Pudong's painting and calligraphy. The exhibition is set to last for more than two months until September 23.

The museum now has more than 1,000 collections of paintings and calligraphy works, including over 300 ancient and modern paintings and calligraphy collections.

The Pudong History Museum, dedicated to documenting the stories about Shanghai's Pudong New Area before its opening-up and development in the 1990s, was officially opened on Feb 16.

The new museum contains exhibits that tell of the history of the eastern bank of the Huangpu River, from its ecological evolution through centuries, to the administration changes of dynasties, to the stories of local heroes.
