Darren Wynne of the United Kingdom currently works as the chief engineer of British automotive engineering company GKN. He has lived in Pudong New Area in East China's Shanghai for nearly four years.
In his eyes, Pudong has marvelous architecture and is filled with a sense of the future. He notes that Pudong's inclusiveness and diversity has allowed him "to enjoy peace and contentment despite the hustle and bustle of the city".
Founded in Pudong in 2018 and located at the Expo Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, GKN provides technical consulting services for the aviation industry.
Darren had worked in Beijing for four years before moving to Shanghai, where he has worked with staff of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to research a composite wing demonstrator. This component can be found on the horizontal tail plane of the C919, the first made-in-China passenger aircraft.
"The aviation industry where I work has a very close connection with Pudong. GKN is now helping to shape the future of aircraft industry, and Pudong is the best place," he said.
Darren said he thinks highly of the Chinese he has worked with, noting that they are always filled with enthusiasm for their job.
"They have always treated me like a family member, and this has allowed me to better adapt to work and life in Pudong," he added.
"These precious relationships are sure to become lifelong friendships."
