Shanghai's 1st wetland science museum opens in Pudong
The Shanghai Jinhai Wetland Science Museum, the first of its kind in Shanghai, opened to the public on Feb 2, the 27th World Wetlands Day.
As the first urban wetland science museum in the city, it will become a wetland nature education center integrating science exhibition and promotion, and environmental education.
The science museum, located in Pudong New Area, has a theme of "City and Wetland Coexist", and will be developed into a multifunctional and compound ecological wetland science base in Shanghai.
Covering an area of 1,600 square meters, the museum has two exhibition halls, and is equipped with complete supporting facilities such as multimedia exhibition areas that offer immersive experiences to visitors.
This year's World Wetlands Day has a theme of "Wetland Restoration", which emphasizes the urgent need to prioritize the restoration of lost or degraded wetlands and calls for everyone's participation.
The opening of the science museum provided the public with a place to enjoy the beauty of wetlands, which will help raise people's awareness about them and encourage actions to protect and restore these important ecosystems and the services they provide.
