The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum held a special dog-themed exhibition to celebrate the 2018 Chinese New Year, which is the year of the dog according to the Chinese lunar calendar, according to a news published on Pudong's website in Feb 1.

At the event, a four-year-old Labrador Retriever and a seven-year-old Springer Spaniel showed off a few tricks including sitting, lying down, leaning and following other similar commands, which drew a great deal of applause from the audience.

Both dogs now have "jobs"; with the Labrador Retriever working at Shanghai Pudong International Airport while the Springer Spaniel works at the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal.

In addition to being able to follow simple commands, they also showed the audience other special abilities that they have, such as how they used their strong sense of smell to discover hidden fruit, meat and dairy products, which are categorized as goods that are forbidden to be brought into China. The Labrador Retriever is also excellent at Math and he could correctly work out the answers of simple Math problems, such as 10 minus 7. He gave his answer by barking three times.

Moreover, on the ground floor of the museum, there are exhibits that share interesting facts about dogs; such as the history of the animal, how dogs became domesticated, how they help do jobs like baggage inspection at airports, their characteristics, behaviors, and the manner in which they express their emotions to people.

In the museum's theater, visitors can also watch a 3D film about dogs and understand more about how to build a closer relationship with various kinds of dogs.

Many visitors are so fond of dogs, that they also submitted photos, videos and calligraphies of dogs to the museum.

This exhibition will last until May 6 and during this period, the organizers will hold various lectures on dogs that visitors can attend to learn more about this extraordinary animal.
