Shanghai Ocean University plans to develop its disciplines
Shanghai Ocean University laid out a plan on Jan 25 to develop its disciplines.
According to the plan, the university will increase its subject categories, such as aquaculture, marine fishery, aquatic food and fishery economy.
Shanghai Ocean University was founded by Zhang Jian and Huang Yanpei in 1912. Currently, it is managed by Shanghai Municipal Peoples Government, State Oceanic Administration and Ministry of Agriculture.
The university is concerned about oceans, seas and lakes of the world. In the future, it will work towards the sustainable development and utilization of the biological resources in the ocean and environment protection.
The discipline of aquaculture has been listed into the list of China's key strategic developments. The university has an integral system for cultivating talents and its research will be industrialized to serve the needs of national development.
The university will further boost its development of its key disciplines, namely ocean, aquatic product and food, and hopefully the three disciplines will attain top standards. Meanwhile, it will also develop other subjects such as agriculture, science, engineering, economy, management and law to make the university more comprehensive.
