The classic airliner Y-10 was transported to Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd (COMAC)'s Pudong manufacturing base on Dec 25, after 30 years' stay at Shanghai Dachang Airbase.

Y-10 will be exhibited to the public, after COMAC made the decision to move it to its Pudong factory.

Y-10, Y representing the first letter of pinyin of Transporter in Chinese: Yunshuji, was the first trunkliner designed and manufactured in China.

The plane was designed by Shanghai Aircraft Research Institute. The project of designing and manufacturing Y-10 was approved in the early 1970s. And its test flight took place in 1980.

The plane used Boeing's B707-320C as a reference and was designed according to Federal Aviation Regulations. The airplane is equipped with four jet engines. It can carry 150 passengers. The maximum range of flight is 8,000 kilometers.

Because of a lack of technology and funds, its testing and research came to a pause in the 1980s and the plane remained at Dachang Airport afterwards.

COMAC is a state-owned company, with a mission of implementing large passenger aircraft programs in China.
