The first Huang-Bohai Chinese New Year Fair opened to strong crowds at the Bajiao Bay International Convention and Exhibition Center, kicking off festive spending in Yantai's Huang-Bohai New Area.
The event kicked off with vibrant traditional performances, including lion dances and a popular "God of Wealth" parade, where performers distributed auspicious gifts to delighted attendees. By midday, the 13,000 visitors present were driving strong sales across multiple sections.
Designed for convenience, the festival is organized into nine themed zones, offering everything from locally sourced seafood and traditional handicrafts — such as hand-written Spring Festival couplets and paper-cuttings — to imported snacks and wines. A culinary funfair features over 30 food stalls, local desserts, and a children's play area, alongside live cultural performances like the Jiaodong yangko dance.

Many visitors praised the one-stop shopping experience. "I can get all my New Year items here in one trip — from food to decorations — which saves so much time," said one shopper carrying multiple bags.
Services such as free shuttle buses, complimentary ginger tea, and indoor heating have been provided to ensure a comfortable visit.
The festival will run through Jan 25, combining traditional holiday customs with modern retail and entertainment. It aims to boost seasonal consumption and inject fresh momentum into the local economy.
