The Yantai Annual Exchange and Business Event on International Marine Carbon Sequestration Industry concluded in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, on Nov 19. The landmark event featured the launch of the International Cooperation Center for Marine Carbon Sequestration Sci-Tech Industry and showcased major technological breakthroughs.
The event gathered over 100 international experts and officials, who witnessed the unveiling of several significant achievements. These included the world's first hydrogen-methanol-ammonia energy island platform, a real-time seawater carbon dioxide monitoring system, and the "Guidelines for Zero-Carbon Island Construction" international standards.
Highlighting Yantai's expanding influence in blue carbon development, the event featured the International Marine Carbon Sequestration Industry Organization, established in the city in 2023, which now comprises over 100 members from 30 countries. The program further included field visits to demonstration sites such as the Marine Ecological Civilization Comprehensive Experimental Area of Changdao and Penglai's offshore wind power facilities, allowing participants to observe sustainable practices in action.
Yantai's comprehensive approach — combining policy support, financial innovations, and technological advances — positions the city at the forefront of global marine climate solutions.
