In the waters east of Laishan district in Yantai, Shandong province, Genghai No 1, the country's first integrated intelligent large-scale ecological marine ranch complex, attracted numerous visitors during the summer tourism season.
Built by Shandong Marine Group, Genghai No 1 is the first equipment-type leisure-based marine ranch in China. Its first phase is a smart farming base for marine fish, and the second phase is a modern maritime complex that integrates farming, sightseeing and fishing.
Wei Yan, general manager of Shandong Ocean Harvest Corp, said that Genghai No 1 has solar and wind power systems that generate enough electricity for the platform's daily needs. In terms of farming, intelligent equipment is used to control the quantity of feed, preventing excess bait waste and thus preventing seawater pollution.
The platform is also equipped with an anti-fouling treatment system, similar to that of China's Great Wall Station in Antarctica. After treatment, all waste materials are transported to a designated pier.
Jiang Cheng, Party secretary of Yantai, said that high-tech industries and traditional industries are not mutually exclusive.
The entire region is currently promoting the transformation of the petrochemical and new materials industries from raw materials to high-end products, said Zhou Shizhong, deputy director of the economic development and technological innovation bureau of Huangbohai New Area in Yantai.
"We have outlined a path for future green and sustainable development," said Cong Hao, deputy Party secretary of Wanhua Chemical Group.
Song Xiquan, chairman of Taihe New Material Group, said the company's newly developed green printing and dyeing technology significantly reduces carbon emissions.
