A group of 30 tourists from the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions arrived in the coastal city of Yantai, East China's Shandong province, on Feb 28.
It was the first tour group from Hong Kong and Macao to visit Yantai since the resumption of normal travel on Feb 6 between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
During their two-day trip in Yantai, the tourists visited the most famous attractions in Yantai, such as the Changyu Wine Culture Museum, Dongpaotai Scenic Area, and the Penglai Pavilion, known as a "paradise on earth." They were impressed by the city's charm and beauty, and the fresh and tasty delicacies on offer.
"Yantai has sound ecological environment, and is renowned as a City of Wine," said a visitor from Macao.
At the Changyu Wine Culture Museum, the tour group explored the development history of Yantai's wine industry.
Blessed with unique natural scenery, Yantai has abundant cultural and tourism resources. In 2018, the city set up the tourism brand "Fresh Yantai," and launched boutique products and services to woo visitors and promote the high-quality development of inbound tourism.
"The arrival of the tour group marks the revival of inbound tourism in Yantai," said an official from the city's culture and tourism bureau.
Recently, Yantai has unveiled a package of measures to invigorate inbound tourism, including rewards for chartering a plane and subsidies for promoting the city in overseas markets. Moreover, the city will spare no effort to help the tourism industry recover and spur consumption. Promotional activities will also be held in countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and Europe to woo more overseas travelers and facilitate the further recovery of the tourism industry.
