The second session of the 14th Yantai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) kicked off in Yantai, a coastal city in Shandong province, on Dec 27.
The second session of the 18th Yantai Municipal People's Congress also kicked off on Dec 28 and will run until Dec 30.
The annual "two sessions" meetings are of great importance for Yantai to chart the direction for Yantai to deepen opening-up and reform efforts and meet goals for social and economic development.
In the past year, Yantai has effectively coordinated COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures along with economic and social development into the midst of global changes, and a pandemic that hasn't been seen in a century, which is why the city is implementing a series of measures to stabilize economic development and minimize the impact of the pandemic.
Next year is the starting point for fully implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and is also a starting point for Shandong to build itself into a green, low-carbon and high-quality development pilot province in China. Yantai plans to apply a new development philosophy, work hard to promote high-quality development, and push forward to foster a new pattern of development to become a modern socialist city.
During this year's "two sessions" meetings, members of the CPPCC and deputies to the National People's Congress are expected to present a wide range of proposals related to people's livelihoods, social and economic development, and environmental governance. All of which are expected to lay a solid foundation for Yantai's future development.
