The Fushan district in the coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province has pursued high-quality development and made major achievements in several areas since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012.

Official data indicates that the district's GDP grew at an average annual rate of 7.3 percent, while general public budget revenues reported an average annual growth rate of 6 percent.

Fushan's development level and comprehensive strength have risen from 2012 to 2021, and it has been included on the "Top 100 Districts in China" rankings for many years in a row. Efforts have also been made to accelerate its pace in green development and replace old growth drivers with new ones.

The district is now home to 247 industrial enterprises above a designated size - enterprises earning at least 20 million yuan ($2.85 million) annually, 112 more than that in 2012. The number of high-tech enterprises and small and medium-sized science and technology enterprises reached 74 and 129, respectively. The district has also made breakthroughs in the development of the service sector and nearly 40 modern logistics projects have settled here.

Fushan has also achieved continuous progress in deepening reform and opening-up. Twenty-one industrial projects invested by the world's top 500 companies have been launched in Fushan, bringing the total number to 40.

Efforts have also been made to advance reform and innovation. More than 200 innovative measures implemented in Fushan have been promoted and replicated nationwide and across Shandong province. The district has also made continuous efforts to deepen reforms to streamline administrative approval, delegate power to lower levels, and improve regulations and services. Efforts have also been made to improve the business environment, which has made the soil more fertile for market players.

Fushan has made significant efforts to upgrade its infrastructure and improve people's livelihoods. A wide range of cultural and sports activities have been promoted across the district, such as ice and snow sports in schools.

Fushan has focused on advancing leading industries with local characteristics to promote rural vitalization. The cherry industry in Fushan has developed at a fast pace and the local government has ramped up efforts to build a more beautiful countryside in order to improve the quality of life for villagers.
