Food expo promotes Yantai-featured products

The 16th International Fruit, Vegetable and Food Exposition begun in Yantai, East China's Shandong Province on Oct 16, showcasing Yantai-featured fruit, vegetable and food to global visitors.

"The exposition has become a highlight of Yantai, which provides a platform for economic exchanges in the agricultural sector in the world," said Zhang Yongxia, mayor of Yantai at the opening ceremony.
Themed "green, health and future", the four-day event has attracted 518 exhibitors to display fruits, vegetable, seedlings and food processing equipment.

Some high-tech products were eye-catching at the expo including the irrigation equipment from Israel, Italy's agriculture testing machines, the apple-planting technology from Japan and drones for agricultural purposes from China's Guangzhou.

Besides these products, 遠山茂, general consul of Consulate General of Japan in Qingdao also voiced his wish that the fair will bring Sino-Japanese relations in agricultural products to a new level. "Japan has become the largest exporter of Shandong's agricultural products with 40 percent of Japan's agricultural exports from China coming from Shandong. Furthermore, many Japanese-funded enterprises have established their branches in Shandong," said the general consul.
Initiated in 1999, the food fair attracted more than 1.7 million delegations from across the world during the past 15 years.
