Baoshan blueberries burst into market as peak harvest arrives

Harvest season has hit its golden peak in Baoshan town, Qingdao West Coast New Area, celebrated as the leading blueberry town in China. Located along the 35th north latitude — the lifeline for premium fruit cultivation — the region is now blanketed in lush greenery and vibrant blue-purple clusters. The town's unique combination of acidic soil and a mild maritime climate provide a natural haven for these berries to thrive.

Baoshan's success is the result of 28 years of dedicated cultivation. Since the first experimental seedling was planted in 1999, the industry has grown to 26,000 mu (1733.33 hectares) with an annual output of 16,000 metric tons. These berries are known for their plump shape, thick natural wax coating, and an explosion of refreshing sweetness in every bite. This superior quality is maintained through strict ecological farming practices and scientific management.

The industry's commitment to excellence has earned it prestigious accolades, including a National Geographical Indication Trademark and a spot on the Shandong Rural Characteristic Industry list. These honors have transformed the Baoshan blueberry into a high-value brand, with 30 authorized enterprises maintaining these rigorous standards.
