The Qingdao West Coast Museum opened its doors on April 26, becoming a premier cultural complex for the region. Spanning over 10,000 square meters, this modern institution serves as a central hub for relic preservation, academic research, and education, seamlessly bridging the area's ancient Langya roots with contemporary urban life.
In addition to traditional displays, the museum has launched three signature creative collections. These include a series that incorporates patterns from jade and bronze antiques into contemporary fashion and home decor, a maritime-themed gift series celebrating the area's coastal fishing culture through practical stationery and tea sets, and a city-landmark series that incorporates local traditional culture and architecture into commemorative keepsakes.
The facility offers a multifaceted and immersive experience, featuring specialized halls for archaeology, calligraphy, and traditional culture. Highlights include a systematic evolution of Chinese calligraphy — featuring the prestigious Langya Terrace stone inscriptions — and live exhibitions of local treasures such as Maoqiang Opera, woodblock prints, and paper-cutting. Visitors can further engage with history in dedicated VR zones and handicraft areas.
The museum is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday (9:00 am – 5:00 pm) and closed on Mondays, except for public holidays.
By blending historical depth with interactive technology and creative industry, the new museum provides a vibrant space for both citizens and tourists to explore the culture of Qingdao West Coast New Area.
