On April 10, Qingdao West Coast New Area (Qingdao WCNA) hosted the Pet Industry Ecosystem Dialogue, a strategic move to solidify its position as a premier hub for the burgeoning pet economy.
During the event, authorities released a comprehensive 10-point policy package specifically designed to support the pet food sector, offering substantial financial incentives for manufacturing excellence, digital transformation, and international market expansion.
The new measures provide significant capital support, with individual manufacturing enterprises eligible for up to 6 million yuan ($870,000) in annual subsidies. To encourage global competitiveness, the district will offer grants for AI-powered market exploration and domestic or international exhibition participation.
As the core stronghold of Qingdao's pet food industry, Qingdao WCNA currently hosts 106 enterprises, contributing over 50 percent of the city's total output value. In 2025 alone, the district's pet food output reached 3.46 billion yuan, with 80 percent of products exported to premium markets in Europe and North America.
The conference also featured the unveiling of the Pet-Human Harmony Civilized Practice Pilot Base and the inauguration of the Qingdao WCNA Pet Industry Association. Furthermore, six major projects, including a nutritional health industrial park and high-end snack manufacturing facilities, were officially signed.
Looking ahead, the district plans to develop a smart pet port, aiming to create northern China's largest full-chain industrial cluster. By integrating research, production, and smart technology, Qingdao WCNA is committed to optimizing its business environment and driving the industry toward high-end, internationalized growth.
