Shinan district in Qingdao, Shandong province, stays cool and comfortable as summer heat sweeps across many parts of China, thanks to its coastal location and sea breeze.
With seaside views, tree-lined streets, and mountain scenery, the district has become a popular summer destination for tourists looking to escape the heat.
In the morning, tourists and local residents walk through the Badaguan scenic area, where trees provide shade and sea breezes cool the streets. One tourist said Shinan was a good place to visit in summer because the temperature was nearly 10 C lower than in her hometown.
Zhanqiao Pier is one of Qingdao's best-known coastal landmarks and has also been drawing many visitors. Tourists enjoy sea views along the pier, while children play on the beach nearby. Some visitors said they planned to stay longer to explore the waterfront and enjoy the cool weather.
According to staff members at the scenic area, Zhanqiao Pier has seen a steady rise in visitor numbers, especially tourists from other provinces, as more people choose Qingdao for its mild summer climate.
Shinan's coastal climate stays cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Building on this advantage, the district has been improving tourism services and making better use of its natural scenery, century-old architecture, and coastal resources to prepare for the summer travel season.
Cool weather, coastal views, and improved services are making Shinan an increasingly attractive summer destination.
