Qingdao's Shinan district is at the forefront of high-quality development, with a significant number of science and technology projects approved at the provincial and municipal levels, totaling 34 in 2024.
The district has generated 6.2 billion yuan ($853.63 million) in technical contract transactions and has been recognized with 13 projects receiving the 2023 Shandong Province Science and Technology Award and 20 projects receiving the 2023 Qingdao Science and Technology Award.
This year, the district revised the Administrative Measures for Science and Technology Plan Projects, establishing a comprehensive management system for science and technology projects. Focusing on key sectors such as the digital economy, marine technology, life and health, and new energy, the district supports science and technology plan projects through a "competitive selection" mechanism.
Notable projects include the "Intelligent Equipment and Enhancement Models for Open Sea and Remote Island Reef Aquaculture", which has developed 14 pieces of large-scale aquaculture equipment, accounting for about one-fourth of China's deep-sea large-scale aquaculture equipment.
Sinopec Jingwei Company's independently developed rotary steering technology has reached an internationally advanced level, ensuring the independent control of core technologies in the field of petroleum engineering.
The China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member Technology Transfer Center, located in Shinan district, offers crucial assistance to businesses expanding into international markets. The center engages in extensive technical exchanges and cooperation with SCO member states and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, establishing collaborative centers in London, St. Petersburg, Tashkent, and Shanghai.
