In Shinan district, Qingdao, the tourism market is thriving, particularly in the historical and waterfront areas. Many visitors are opting to drive to Qingdao, especially with the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs). To meet the charging needs of these vehicle owners, Shinan district is actively establishing a new energy-friendly environment, ensuring hassle-free travel for tourists.
Over 60 percent of the top new energy vehicle brands in the district have established stores, reflecting a growing concentration of EV brands in the area. These companies are attracted not only by government support but also by the favorable business environment and high-quality development prospects unique to the district.

In response to the rising popularity of EVs, the construction of charging stations has been deemed a priority. By 2023, Shinan district had built 970 EV charging piles. In 2024, the district plans to introduce the unified construction and management of charging facilities and add over 600 charging facilities.
With significant visitor traffic to tourist spots and high demand for charging facilities, multiple charging stations have been strategically placed around the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center, including liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging piles with a power exceeding 480 kW. These advanced facilities support ultra-fast charging technology, allowing vehicles to travel 300 kilometers on just a 5-minute charge. Coupled with a policy allowing free parking for 2 hours during charging, the integration of parking and charging services offers travelers a convenient experience.
