Travel photography is becoming popular in the historical area of Qingdao, particularly Shinan district.

This trend is not only reshaping the way people experience and document their travels, but also bringing about subtle transformations within the travel photography industry itself.

In Shinan district, photographers are delving into the local historical culture to discover new landmarks in the old city area as they search for distinct photograph subjects. Photographers are also broadening their services by introducing compound business formats, scene-based experiences, and light travel services.

"Liyuan, a traditional Qingdao courtyard dwelling, serves as a natural photography studio. As liyuan continue to undergo renovation, the photo-ops it offers are continuing to increase. For instance, the flower exhibition set up on the streets during this year's Spring Festival offered us abundant background material for outdoor photography," said Xie Meng, the owner of a Dabao Island photography studio.

Qingdao has made significant strides in preserving and revitalizing its historical districts in recent years, drawing in a growing number of visitors with its rejuvenated neighborhoods and vibrant activities. While traditional photography locations like Zhanqiao Pier and May Fourth Square remain popular, the focus has shifted towards the Zhongshan Road area, where old buildings and liyuan offer a different aesthetic.

Moreover, the evolution of travel photography goes beyond capturing images – it is a burgeoning industry integrating costume rentals, scene marketing and makeup services.
