The 2nd New Year's Shangjieli Shopping Festival in Shinan district, Qingdao concluded on March 3. Shinan district aimed to boost consumer engagement in its central Shangjieli area during the festive season by showcasing its historical allure and appealing to young consumers.

During the Spring Festival period from Feb 10 to 17, a total of 2.56 million domestic and foreign visitors visited the Shangjieli area, with an average of 320,000 visitors per day. Visitor numbers peaked at over 400,000 on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.

The district attracted a younger crowd by organizing activities that promote interactive social experiences during the Spring Festival Culture Tourism Festival. They showcased different art exhibitions such as the Dunhuang digital art exhibition, the Ali special exhibition - Back to the Start and the Light Forest.

Additionally, events such as a retro electronic music festival, dining shows, and hot wine and hotpot festivals boosted the night economy.

Despite the end of Chinese New Year celebrations, the vibrant street activities will continue with street singers, liyuan (traditional Qingdao courtyard dwelling) exhibitions, and other special events set to entertain visitors until the May Day holiday.
