Qingdao's Shinan district has made major achievements in building information infrastructure and promoting industrial digitalization over the past year.
A total of 41 projects from the district in the coastal city of Shandong province were selected by the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology as some of the province's major big data projects in 2023, accounting for nearly one third of the 126 total in Qingdao, according to the list released on Dec 25 by the department. The number of data products produced in the district also accounts for 45.8 percent of Qingdao's total.
Such achievements are result of the district's efforts in recent years to promote a strong digital intelligence chain, implementing one-on-one specialist services for key enterprises to help them strive for excellence.
Dedicated to achieving digital empowerment, the district has built a new digital infrastructure and consolidated the foundation of the digital industry with a total of 2,153 5G base stations. One company in the district was named one of the country's top 500 industrial Internet companies.
Shinan is also Qingdao's first district to start certifying metaverse and virtual reality enterprises. The metaverse industry in Shinan has gradually gained momentum and formed an ecosystem. In 2023, the district hosted the country's first "Challenger Cup" Metaverse Developer Competition, the Metaverse Innovation Summit Forum and Suiguang's 2023 Infinity·X national launch ceremony, paving the way for a number of major metaverse companies to being operating in the district. The Qingdao Metaverse Industrial Innovation Park in the district has been listed as a key construction park in the province.
