As the weather turns cold, the annual seagull season has arrived in Shinan district, Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, attracting many visitors eager to witness the magnificent sight and enjoy the enchanting winter scenery.
Thousands of seagulls migrate from places like Siberia to Qingdao to spend the winter. They usually fly back in late April of the following year.
The "Keep Seagulls in Qingdao" initiative, launched in 1994, has seen active participation from both residents and tourists alike. Over the past 20 years, the number of seagulls wintering in Qingdao has grown from 2,000 to over 100,000.
Apart from the enthusiasm of the locals and the warm winter climate, this growth is closely related to the improving ecological environment in the city.
Zhanqiao Pier, Badaguan, May Fourth Square and Olympic Sailing Center are the best places to observe seagulls in Shinan. Countless seagulls soar in the sky, creating a magnificent scene.
