Qingdao's Shinan district has been harnessing digital technologies to drive the upgrading of its transportation, governance and commerce this year.

For example, the district has made intelligent enhancements to its parking lots by setting up a unified platform for data access, upgrading entrance and exit devices, and installing parking guidance screens.

Users can now click on a parking spot in the "Zhongshan Road Shangjieli" WeChat mini program and find out the number of parking lots available. The mini program also offers navigation and parking reservation services.

Almost 1,400 parking spaces in six parking lots have been modernized in Shinan. Additionally, information from around 2,450 parking spaces has been consolidated in the mini program.

The innovative applications of Shinan district's historical city area digital brain platform include the use of heatmaps to analyze visitor flow at different attractions.

By deploying AI cameras and front-end perception devices, the system effectively monitors people and vehicle movement in key locations such as Zhongshan Road and Zhanqiao Pier. This approach allows for better scenic area planning.

The digital brain platform has also played a vital role in data analysis. By analyzing bank settlement data, the platform determines consumption patterns and customer profiles across industries at different times on Zhongshan Road, helping businesses make more precise operational decisions that are aligned with market demand.
