The first Qingdao (Shinan) Courtyard Art Festival commenced on Sept 28 in Qingdao's Shinan district. Lasting until Oct 22, the festival provides residents with a lineup of over 200 cultural activities.

The festival will mainly be held in the Shangjieli area and Badaguan–Taipingjiao area. A total of 14 courtyards in these areas have been selected and renovated to host various cultural activities, such as musical performances, drama shows, art exhibitions and markets.

The "courtyard performance", which includes cultural activities inside courtyards instead of venues like theaters or exhibition halls, is part of a three-year campaign to improve the quality of tourism in Qingdao.

Shinan district's old city area is known for its historical charm and cultural ambiance. It features artistic styles from over 20 countries, making it an ideal location for "courtyard performances".

The classical buildings and art courtyards in Shinan district blend traditional architecture with innovative concepts, contributing to the district's cultural and tourism development.
